Parent Portal

The Parent Portal allows you to stay connected to your student's AoPS Online experience. It gives you a central place to manage your parent account, view your student's course enrollments, adjust settings, and access your student's homework reports on demand.

This page provides an overview of what's available in the Parent Portal and how to get started.

What Can I Do in the Parent Portal?

The Parent Portal gives parents with a parent account a dedicated space to manage their students and their own account settings. Here's what you can do in the current version:

  • Change your student’s username (can be changed every 30 days in your Parent Portal).
  • View all students linked to your parent account and see current course enrollments for students enrolled in AoPS Online classes.
  • Manage your own account settings, including your name, email, and password.
  • View and update your student's account settings.
  • Control your student's ability to post on the Community Forums and in Math Jams. Access your student's progress report for ongoing classes on demand.
  • Add a new or existing student to your parent account.
  • Switch directly to your student's account instead of needing to separately log in.

Accessing the Parent Portal

To access the Parent Portal, you'll need a parent account.

Once you've created your parent account and signed in, access the Parent Portal by hovering over your name on the top right of any AoPS.com page, or by going here.

Your Dashboard

When you access your Parent Portal, you'll land on your dashboard. On this page, you can see each student who is currently enrolled in an AoPS Online course.

From your dashboard, you can select the student's name to go to their individual settings page, navigate to the progress report, or use the sidebar to access other areas of the Parent Portal.

Account Settings

Parent Account Settings

You can access your own account settings from the menu in the top right corner of the portal. From there, you can update your name, username, email address, and password, as well as access the settings for student accounts connected to your parent account.

Student Account Settings

Note: Students who are not enrolled in AoPS Online classes (for example, Beast Academy or AoPS Academy students) will appear in your student list, but their course/subscription information and settings won't show on your dashboard.

When you select a student from your My Students list, which can be found in the sidebar, you can view and update the following information for that student:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Username (can only be changed every 30 days to maintain consistency in the classroom)
  • Password
  • Date of birth (viewable but not editable if already on file)

Parental Controls

Within a student's settings page, you can control your student's access to public AoPS Online Community forums, FTW, MathJam chat, and other community tools. This toggle does not impact any Classroom functionality, including Classroom message boards. Community access is toggled off by default for students who are connected to parent accounts, and, if the student is under 13, cannot be toggled on until we receive that permission (which can be granted either during the enrollment process or by sending in a parental permission form).

Student Homework Reports

Through your Dashboard page, you can access your student's homework reports for current enrollments. For weekly live classes, the report provides a detailed breakdown of your student's homework performance by week, including the homework problems, your student's answers, and, for classes with writing problems, scores, and instructor feedback when available. For self-paced classes, the report shows your student's progress by subject.
